The next edition of ASTC On Air will stream live on Tuesday, November 24, at 11:00 a.m. ET. We’ll be speaking with Owen Gaffney, director of international media and strategy at the Stockholm Resilience Centre, and writer and analyst working in global-change research.
ASTC On Air is a series in which we interview fascinating individuals outside the museum field who are doing work that is relevant and interesting to informal science and museum professionals.
ASTC is organizing science center networks to participate in the upcoming COP21 climate conference in Paris. Owen Gaffney will be serving on the panel of experts during a youth event at Universcience, the science center in Paris. Gaffney’s work focuses on the Anthropocene concept, international governance, globalization, and the digital revolution. He and his colleagues published an article in the journal Nature in March 2013 titled “Sustainable Development Goals for People and Planet,” which led to an opinion piece in the New York Times, and he spoke at TEDx Stockholm in May 2013.
We’ll be speaking with Gaffney about past climate projects in science centers, the upcoming COP21 climate discussions in Paris, and how science centers can be involved.
