His academic background is engineering with a degree of Bio-Engineer in Chemistry as well as Doctor in Applied Biological Sciences both at the University of Leuven (KUL), Belgium. He spent several years doing research in universities in the US and in France, joined the chemical industry in Germany where he spent the most of his career before returning to an Academic position of which he retired.
He is the author of several scientific publications, patents, proceedings of symposia and congresses, among them the Proceedings of the 4th World Congress on Filtration; several papers on societal aspects and ethics of technology; co-author and editor four books on the theme of philosophy of technology, sustainability and global change and Proceedings of the joint World Conference of Club of Rome and UNESCO on ICTs for Capacity-Building (2005).
He is member of the Executive Committee of the Club of Rome International, President of the Brussels-EU Chapter of the Club of Rome and a member of the World Academy of Sciences and Arts.
