The U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) announced the 10 recipients of the 2015 National Medal for Museum and Library Service and four ASTC members are among the winners.
The National Medal is the highest honor given to museums and libraries in the U.S. for exemplary service to their communities. Medal winners were selected from nationwide nominations of institutions that demonstrate innovative approaches to public service, exceeding the expected levels of community outreach.
Medal recipients will be recognized at a ceremony in Washington, DC on May 18. Following the ceremony, StoryCorps, a nonprofit dedicated to recording and preserving the stories of Americans, will visit and document stories from each winning institution and their communities.
Congratulations to the four ASTC-member recipients:
- Amazement Square, Lynchburg, Virginia
- Louisiana Children’s Museum, New Orleans
- New York Hall of Science, Queens
- The Tech Museum of Innovation, San Jose, California
