At a White House ceremony today, U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama and Director of the Institute of Museum and Library Services Kathryn K. Matthew honored 10 outstanding U.S. museums and libraries with the 2016 National Medal for Museum and Library Service. ASTC is delighted that Mid-America Science Museum in Hot Springs, Arkansas—an ASTC member—is one of the recipients of this year’s prestigious award.

The National Medal is the highest honor given to museums and libraries in the United States for exemplary service to their communities. Medal winners were selected from nationwide nominations of institutions that demonstrate innovative approaches to public service, exceeding the expected levels of community outreach. The winners were selected from 30 finalists across the country nominated for the honor. ASTC congratulates Mid-America Science Museum, the other winners, and the finalists, including Children’s Museum Tucson, Arizona, and Imagination Station, Toledo, Ohio, both ASTC members. Bravo!
