Geometric Bubble Events Pop Up Across the U.S.

Geometric bubbles at Discovery Station in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Have you ever seen bubbles like these? On Saturday, May 4, 2019, ASTC-member organizations across the U.S. hosted Geometric Bubble Events as part of the 2019 National Math Festival held in Washington, D.C. This coast-to-coast celebration focused on math and its relationship to our daily lives.

Using bubble kits provided by Zometool, participating science centers and museums offered hands-on, geometric bubble activities throughout the day. Visitors—both the young and young at heart—took turns dipping 3D geometric structures into soapy solutions resulting in bubbles with unique and surprising forms. From squares, spirals, triangles, and more, the bubbles with a geometric twist offered a fun opportunity for participants to explore math and science in a new way.
