About the Annual Statistics Survey
The Annual Statistics Survey is an ongoing data collection effort conducted by ASTC. Over the last 50 years, this survey has existed as a comparative study on the science centers, museums, and the broader science engagement field; aimed at providing an understanding of the structure, functions, and impacts of science engagement organizations around the world.
Each year, data is collected from organizations across the science engagement field (e.g., science centers, museums, research organizations, exhibit development companies) regarding their operations over the most recently completed fiscal year and covers a wide range of statistics related to workforce, facilities, products and services, visitor attendance, and finances, as well as rotating data on field-wide issues.
Through this survey, organizations can benchmark their own operations against key data points, gaining valuable insights into visitor demographics, engagement strategies, financial health, and more. Whether you’re looking to refine your exhibits, optimize visitor experiences, or make informed decisions about staffing and resources, our data collection efforts offer actionable benchmarks to help guide your organization’s growth.

Once again ASTC is joined in continued partnership with Ecsite, the European network of science engagement organisations; CASC, the Canadian network of science engagement organisations; and ASPAC, the Asia-Pacific Network of Science and Technology Centres.
All members of ASTC, Ecsite, CASC, and ASPAC, are eligible to participate in the survey.
Data collection for the 2025 Annual Statistics Survey will launch on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 and will remain open through Friday, May 15, 2026. Final reports for the 2025 Annual Statistics Survey will be made available later this year.
