Since its founding over 75 years ago as the first science and nature education center in the Southeast, Discovery Place’s importance to the STEM field and the community continues to grow!
Did you know? Discovery Place is a network of four museums that bring science, nature, and design together to create transformative experiences for all ages.
At Discovery Place Science, learn about anatomy, botany, and computer science with interactive workshops in our state-of-the-art labs. Pull up a lab stool and peer into a microscope to take a closer look at hundreds of unique artifacts in our permanent collections.
Lovers of the natural world can get closer to nature with a walk through Charlotte’s only indoor rainforest. While inside you just might be greeted with a friendly “Hello” from BJ, Discovery Place’s resident blue and gold macaw.
Come face-to-face with our animal ambassadors including snakes, lizards, and tortoises, and see what life is like underwater inside our aquarium where sharks, seahorses, and jellyfish live.
Up for a creative activity? Tinker, innovate, and test through daily hands-on programs, science experiments, and design challenges led by our knowledgeable scientists and experienced specialists.
