Travel to the San Francisco Bay Area
Flights
San Francisco is a major cultural and economic hub located on the west coast of the United States. It is served primarily by San Francisco International Airport (SFO), an international airport that offers more than 1,060 flights per day on almost 50 airlines, providing nonstop service to more than 130 destinations worldwide. SFO is a major base for United Airlines and Alaska Airlines. Attendees may also consider flying into Oakland International Airport (OAK) or San José Mineta International Airport (SJC), which are a short distance to San Francisco and may offer affordable flight options.
Local Transit
The Muni bus transit system serves the entire city of San Francisco and can get you to the Exploratorium or California Academy of Sciences.
The BART subway system connects you to Berkeley (the Lawrence Hall of Science) and Oakland (Chabot Space and Science Center). Caltrain connects to both BART and Muni, and offers the quickest access to Silicon Valley (Computer History Museum, The Tech Interactive).
Take the ferry to Sausalito to visit the Bay Area Discovery Museum, or to Oakland to start your visit to the Chabot Space and Science Center or Lawrence Hall of Science.
Hop on an historic Cable Car to access many of San Francisco’s most iconic tourist destinations, including the Exploratorium.
Get a preview of the rideshare of the future by hailing a Waymo driverless car (make sure to download the app ahead of time).
Borrow an e-scooter or e-bike for a quick ride around San Francisco’s bike-friendly streets (Lime typically has an abundance of options in downtown San Francisco).
Hotels
ASTC is pleased to offer access to discounted hotel accommodations for the ASTC 2025 Annual Conference. ASTC has contracts with several hotels within close proximity to the Moscone Center, where most activities will be held. We strongly encourage you to book as part of the conference room block to take advantage of these savings.
