Open the Door to Future STEM Leaders AND Funding Opportunities!

Representation in STEM matters. When young people see adults who look like them thriving in science, technology, engineering, and math, they begin to see those futures as possibilities for themselves.

The IF/THEN® Champions Network is working to make that vision a reality for girls and women in the STEM field. A collaboration between the Association of Science and Technology Centers (ASTC) and the National Girls Collaborative Project (NGCP), and supported by Lyda Hill Philanthropies’ IF/THEN® initiative, the network connects individuals and organizations committed to amplifying the visibility of women in STEM.

What is the IF/THEN® Champions Network?

The network is national community of science centers, museums, nonprofits, and individuals committed to increasing representation in STEM learning environments. Network members use IF/THEN® resources to create exhibits, develop educational programs, and feature role models in their work. In addition, members gain access to exclusive funding and professional learning opportunities and a growing community of peers working to broaden STEM participation across all communities.

For example, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Discovery World hosted a Girls & STEM event in partnership with Northwestern Mutual and Rockwell Automation, welcoming over 1,800 attendees and more than 20 local organizations. The event included IF/THEN®-inspired workshops, activities, and conversations designed to spark curiosity and build STEM confidence for young girls and their families. Staff say they saw many “aha!” moments – when young people saw themselves reflected in female scientists and began to believe STEM is for them, too.
