The LEGO Group’s Playful Learning Museum Network is celebrating its fourth—and biggest—year yet! Hosted by the Association of Science and Technology Centers (ASTC) and funded by the LEGO Foundation, the program brings 21 leading children’s and science museums together with a shared mission: to unlock the power of play for children.
Since 2021, the network has reached over five million children by driving a community of practice that pioneers learning through play experiences both within museum walls and out in communities.
Today, network representatives from 15 U.S states are gathering in person at ASTC headquarters to shape the program’s priorities and ambitious two-year plan.
Lizabeth Sklaroff, Senior Director, Social Responsibility at the LEGO Group, said:
“We are thrilled to bring the power of play to even more children this year with our growing LEGO® Playful Learning Museum Network. Play is a child’s superpower—it fuels curiosity, builds critical skills, and is one of the brain’s favorite ways to learn. I can’t wait to see the continued magic that unfolds when these leading minds are united! Here’s to more play, more learning and more impact.”
Christofer Nelson, ASTC’s President and CEO said: “ASTC is honored to host the LEGO Playful Learning Museum Network and to support more than 20 science centers and children’s museums across the country in doing that they do best: engaging their communities with joyful, playful, and effective learning experiences.”
“As an organization with STEM at our core, we understand the foundational ways in which learning through play builds the creativity, problem solving, teamwork, and other skills required in today’s world, and we are excited to use research-informed practices to empower today’s youth with the skills and confidence to become tomorrow’s leaders.”
