About the Annual Statistics Survey
The Annual Statistics Survey is an ongoing data collection effort conducted by ASTC. Over the last 50 years, this survey has existed as a comparative study on the science center and museum field, aimed at providing an understanding of the structure, functions, and impacts of science engagement organizations around the world.
Each year, data is collected from science centers, museums, and other informal science education organizations regarding their operations over the most recently completed fiscal year and covers a wide range of statistics related to workforce, facilities, visitor attendance, and finances, as well as rotating data on field-wide issues.
Through this survey, organizations can benchmark their own operations against key data points, gaining valuable insights into visitor demographics, engagement strategies, financial health, and more. This year, for the 2024 Annual Statistics Survey, ASTC is joined in partnership with Ecsite, the European network of science engagement organisations; CASC, the Canadian network of science engagement organisations; and ASPAC, the Asia-Pacific Network of Science and Technology Centres.
All members of ASTC, Ecsite, CASC, and Planet members of ASPAC, are eligible to participate in the survey.
