Rachel Diamond, PhD
Chief of Staff

Rachel manages ASTC’s operations, facilitates teamwide collaboration, and coordinates board relations, while leading core components of ASTC’s community science initiative.

Na’ilah serves as a first point of contact for vendors and ensures smooth day-to-day operations across the ASTC team.

Adam Fagen, PhD
Director of Communications and Advocacy

Adam leads ASTC’s communications, policy, and advocacy efforts, from making the case for the work of our members and advocating for the importance of public engagement in science to engaging ASTC members across the association’s many communications platforms.


Susan
Straight

Senior Manager of Communications and Managing Editor, Dimensions Magazine

Susan oversees the production of ASTC’s award-winning bimonthly association magazine as well as a wide variety of other communications activities.


Melissa Ballard
Senior Manager of Public Policy and Advocacy

Melissa is working to create advocacy tools that ASTC members can use to make the case for their work at the federal, state, and local levels with policy makers and funders, and she is working to grow U.S. federal funding and programs that support ASTC members.

Jamie Durana
Coordinator of Communications

Jamie advances ASTC’s communications objectives, provides editorial support on a variety of content, and leads production of the INFORMER, ASTC’s biweekly member enewsletter.

Lesley manages partnerships, pilots, and programs at the forefront of ASTC’s work to support its members in navigating future trends and serving their communities.


Amanda Fisher
Manager of Gender Equity Initiatives

Amanda leads ASTC and the National Girls Collaborative Project in their joint equity in gender representation efforts as a part of the IF/THEN Coalition and works to spread and scale inclusive approaches that advance equity and access across our networks.

MEMBER ENGAGEMENT AND SERVICES TEAM


Wendy Hancock

Wendy leads the programming for ASTC’s online and in-person events, coordinates the Annual Conference Program Planning Committee, and manages multiple partnerships that support ASTC members’ program design and delivery for everything from space science activities to teacher professional development.

Todd leads ASTC’s member engagement efforts to facilitate learning and collaboration and connects members with the many benefits and resources they have available through ASTC.


Nina Humes
Manager of the ASTC Annual

Nina manages all aspects of the
ASTC Annual Conference, including
working with the host institution, presenters, exhibitors, sponsors,
and other partners.


Gaby Wilson
Coordinator of Member Services and Conference

Gaby manages ASTC’s membership application, renewal, and support processes, leads registration for the ASTC Annual Conference, and supports a wide variety of member services and programs.

Jamie provides leadership for CAISE, the resource center that convenes, connects, characterizes, and communicates the portfolio and work of the U.S. National Science Foundation’s Advancing Informal STEM Learning (AISL) program.


Sasha Palmquist, PhD

Sasha manages CAISE’s work to develop resources and to engage the U.S. National Science Foundation’s Advancing Informal STEM Learning (AISL) principal investigators and project teams, as well as the broader informal science learning community.


Shannon Sullivan

Shannon leads project management for CAISE, including organizing principal investigator meetings for the U.S. National Science Foundation’s Advancing Informal STEM Learning (AISL) program and curating CAISE’s digital repository at InformalScience.org.

Julian leads ASTC’s finance and administration activities and ensures the organization maintains strong fiscal and administrative management.

Joaquin executes ASTC’s accounting activities, works closely with our members, vendors, and funders, and provides a wide variety of other finance support across the ASTC team.

Senior Advisor for Science Engagement Policy and Partnerships

Erica connects and supports leaders throughout the science engagement ecosystem interested in taking collaborative action to nurture the relationship among all people and science, and she works to advance policies that support greater public engagement in science.


Walter Staveloz

Senior Advisor for Global Challenges
Walter provides ASTC with advice, insights, and connections by drawing on his formidable network of international science museum leaders.
