As we return to an in-person format, please note that registration fees will need to cover the costs for meeting rooms, audiovisual, food and beverage, travel for plenary speakers, and more that has not been as relevant for the virtual conferences we hosted in 2020 and 2021.
Your registration also enables ASTC to serve our community in other ways, including by advocating on behalf of our field, hosting ongoing conversations to connect with and learn from colleagues, offering professional development opportunities throughout the year, and more. We also invite you to consider adding a voluntary donation to your registration, which will help make the conference available to those less able to pay.

Full conference registration for the 2022 ASTC Annual Conference includes

Preconference ASTC Intensives on Sunday, September 11, 2022 will require an additional fee.
Navigation and Networking Gathering on Sunday, September 11, 2022. Free event to help orient you to the conference and to connect with others before the main conference begins. Especially encouraged for new and returning participants to the ASTC Annual Conferences. Prizes will be awarded.
Party at the Carnegie Science Center on Monday, September 12, 2022. Ticket fee of $12 directly supports the ASTC New Leaders Fellowship Program.
Party at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh on Tuesday, September 13, 2022. Ticket fee of $12 directly supports the ASTC New Leaders Fellowship Program.
Museum Experience Day at our two host institutions on Thursday, September 15, 2022.
We will also ask as part of the registration process about your expected participation in plenary sessions, meal functions, and other events that are included in your conference registration. This is to help us to get an accurate count of how many people to expect so the room can be set appropriately.
Single-Day Registration
ASTC offers an opportunity for single-day registration for those who are unable to participate in the full conference at a rate of $200.
Single-day registrations permit access to conference sessions, meals, and events for the selected day only. If you would like to attend more than one day, please purchase a full conference registration; multiple single-day registrations are not available.
Preconference ASTC Intensives and the parties are available for purchase outside of your paid single day registration date.
Group Member Rebates
ASTC is again offering the opportunity for group registration, offering a rebate for more than five people from the same member organization. The more individuals from your organization who register, the more you will save.
Member organizations which have five or more individuals (including full-time and part-time staff members, interns, volunteers, board, and trustee members) register at the Early Bird or Regular rates for the full conference will receive a rebate after the conference. For member organizations with 5–9 attendees, the rebate will be 5% of the total; for member organizations with 10 or more attendees, there will be a 10% rebate.
Registration can be done individually and at any time at the applicable member registration rate. After the conclusion of the conference, ASTC will calculate the rebate based upon the number of attendees affiliated with that member organization. This rebate could be in the form of a credit that could be applied towards membership or issued as a payment before the end of 2022.
Student Registration
Full-time students are welcome to register for the full conference at a discounted rate of $335. A valid student ID and/or proof of enrollment is required prior to registration.
ASTC greatly appreciates the time and commitment of all presenters. In order to ensure that all contributors are fully integrated into the conference and the larger ASTC community, we expect session leaders, presenters, poster leaders, facilitators, and others to register for the conference at the normal rate and to participate in as much of the conference as possible. In addition, presenters are responsible for any fees associated with the session/workshop in which they present.
Exhibitor Registration
All exhibit staff must submit an individual registration for the conference, whether as part of the complimentary registration that comes with the booth or an additional registration. Each 10′ x 10′ exhibit booth includes two complimentary, full-conference registrations, and additional registrations can be purchased separately.
Group Registration
This year, as in previous years, you will be able to register multiple individuals from your organization through a single transaction, as long as each registrant has their own myASTC account associated with the appropriate organizations. Additional step-by-step instructions for how to register a group will be available at a later date.
Please note that group registration is different from the member rebates, and a group registration is not a requirement to receive the member rebate.
Financial Support
ASTC endeavors to make the conference as accessible as possible, including to those with limited financial resources. We will be offering several opportunities to receive financial support to participate in ASTC 2022, including the Todd Happer Memorial Scholarship and the Lee Kimche McGrath Worldwide Fellowship. Click below for more information about these and other opportunities for financial support. The scholarship and fellowship application window closed on July 15, 2022.
An individual who is registered for the ASTC 2022 Annual Conference who finds themselves unable to attend may transfer that registration to another individual. The registrant who is unable to attend should submit their request to conference@astc.org by August 31, 2022.
Cancellation/Refund Policy
ASTC makes commitments on behalf of conference registrants, including those that incur costs to the association.
All cancellation requests must be made in writing to conference@astc.org.
Cancellations received on or before July 20, 2022 may receive a full refund of registration and other event fees.
Cancellations received between July 21, 2022 and August 17, 2022 will be subject to a $200 fee.
No refunds will be granted for cancellations made after August 17, 2022 and cannot be credited to a future conference.
That being said, ASTC prioritizes the health and safety of conference attendees (see FAQ for additional information). Should you or a member of your household have a last-minute case of COVID-19, please contact us at conference@astc.org, and we will work with you to the extent possible.

Full payment must be received within 30 days of registration and before a badge will be issued onsite.

Virtual Conference Experience
In addition to the in-person conference in Pittsburgh, ASTC will be hosting a separate virtual event that will enable the broader community to come together for learning, conversation, and networking—including those who are not able to travel to Pittsburgh.
