The Association of Science and Technology Centers (ASTC) and the Association of Children’s Museums (ACM) are again partnering to look at the workforce of our member institutions. This ACM–ASTC Workforce Survey, most recently conducted in 2011 and 2016, will provide a snapshot of the field’s current staffing, including job roles, salaries, benefits, and more.
Response from each ACM and ASTC member will help ensure that the survey results are broadly representative of our field and allow our members to assess and benchmark their institution against others. We know that recruiting and retention are of particular concern to our community, and these data will provide our members with actionable information to assess how their operations compare to others in our field.
The survey is completed on behalf of each institution and will likely be submitted by a human resources lead, finance lead, or chief executive. If you want to ensure your institution takes part, please contact your internal leadership.
If you are a chief executive or human resources or finance lead but did not receive the invitation, please contact us at membership@astc.org.
The survey asks for information about the institution, including aggregate salary information for more than 25 different job roles common to our organizations. See the survey Getting Started Guide for more information about the data requested.
Each institution that completes the Workforce Survey will receive a complimentary copy of the subsequent report (value of $199).
The ACM–ASTC Workforce Survey is also the first “crown” of our Survey Triple Crown that will also include the ASTC Annual Statistics Survey and the ASTC Member Benefits Survey in the next several months. Each response to a survey will provide one entry to a drawing to win a pizza party or ice cream social for the institutional team. In addition, all ASTC-member institutions completing the Survey Triple Crown will also receive special recognition at the ASTC 2023 Annual Conference and an ATSC 50th Anniversary gift box to share with the team.
ACM and ASTC look forward to sharing the results of this survey later this year.
