Join your fellow conference attendees at the Ontario Science Centre on Tuesday, September 24 for Science in the 6ix, Ontario Science Centre’s version of Open House Day.
What does “6ix” mean?
Toronto is known to locals as “the 6ix.” The name is said to refer to the six boroughs—Etobicoke, North York, Scarborough, York, East York, and Toronto—that joined to become Toronto in 1998.
The day kicks off with the popular Live Demo Hour, followed by rare behind-the-scenes tours of the on-site design and fabrication facilities; interactive workshops on design and enhancing your museum’s exhibits and demos; and the feature film screenings of Big Screen Day. We will wrap things up with a dynamic keynote speaker that you won’t want to miss.
Who is the Keynote Speaker?
The closing keynote speaker will be the extraordinary Director X (Julien Christian Lutz), a Canadian film and music video director and producer who has collaborated with entertainers ranging from Drake to Justin Beiber. X is the founder of Operation Prefrontal Cortex, a project that seeks to stop gun and mass violence through meditation. Director X will be joined by a mindfulness expert who’ll take us through a collective exercise that will be an ideal complement to the Ontario Science Centre’s new MindWorks exhibition.
