National Medal for Museum and Library Service

Once again, there are a number of ASTC-member institutions named as finalists for the 2024 National Medal for Museum and Library Service.

Awarded by the U.S. Institute of Museum of Library Services (IMLS), the National Medal is the nation’s highest honor given to museums and libraries that demonstrate excellence in service to their communities. Each year, 15 museums and 15 libraries are named as finalists.

Since it was established in 1994, the awards have honored more than 200 institutions—including 25 ASTC members—that demonstrated extraordinary and innovative approaches to public service. Last year, COSI and the Museum of Discovery and Science were honored with the National Medal in a ceremony hosted by First Lady Dr. Jill Biden at the White House.
