We are excited to be bringing the ASTC 2024 Annual Conference to Chicago, Illinois, for the first time since 1983.
Our Host City – Chicago
Chicago, the United States’ third largest city, has a metropolitan area population of almost 10 million people. The city is renowned for its museums, including several ASTC members, and other world-class institutions such as the Art Institute of Chicago. Located on the western shore of Lake Michigan, Chicago is famed for its bold architecture and has a skyline punctuated by skyscrapers such as the iconic John Hancock Center, 1,451-ft. Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower) and the neo-Gothic Tribune Tower.

The main conference activities, including registration, plenary and concurrent sessions, and the Exhibit Hall, will be held at McCormick Place, Chicago’s state-of-the-art convention center.

Our Hosts
Thanks to the the Kenneth C. Griffin Museum of Science and Industry for serving as the official host for ASTC 2024. One of the largest science museums in the world, the iconic Griffin MSI features a number of award-winning exhibits and hands-on activities—from legacy experiences like the Coal Mine and U-505 submarine—to the newly renovated Henry Crown Space Center, Notes to Neurons, and The Blue Paradox.
In addition to Griffin MSI, we are grateful to other ASTC members and friends in the Chicago area for their hard work and hospitality in facilitating ASTC 2024.
Chicago is one of the most vibrant cities in North America, and we’ll hope you’ll have the chance to explore at least some of what the city has to offer.
In addition to two parties—at the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry and the Field Museum—the conference schedule includes a free evening to explore the city. Check out a number of suggestions from our hosts in Chicago.
