Adler Planetarium

America’s first planetarium, the Adler hosts more than half a million visitors each year to see exhibitions and sky shows. The Adler reaches millions more through youth engagement programs, skywatching events, and people-powered research. With the Adler’s support, people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities gain the confidence to explore their universe together and return to their communities ready to think critically and creatively about any challenge that comes their way. The new Other Worlds exhibition explores our Solar System and planets around other stars. Stargazers Hub highlights the Adler’s history of astronomy collection and our enduring human connection with the sky. The Adler’s sky shows such as Niyah and the Multiverse offer scientific exploration rooted in community and connection.

International Museum of Surgical Science

Logo for International Museum of Surgical Science The International Museum of Surgical Science, a division of the International College of Surgeons, aims to enrich the lives of its visitors by enhancing their appreciation and understanding of the history, development, and advances of surgery and other health and medical topics. The museum is a division of the International College of Surgeons and was opened in 1954. Its collection ranges from prehistoric to contemporary times, and includes medical artifacts, instruments, and archives interspersed with fine art, like paintings and sculptures. Three main themes run throughout the collection: the discovery & use of anesthesia & antisepsis and the understanding of anatomy. These three As are essential to modern medicine.

Chicago Children's Museum

Chicago Children's Museum logo As a cultural institution dedicated solely to young children and the important adults in their lives, Chicago Children’s Museum takes seriously its role as a national leader in developing original, play-based experiences that engage children in creative, collaborative learning. The museum offers two floors of playful learning activities, including 13 permanent exhibits like Moen Presents Water City where children experiment with cause-and-effect through the exploration of water; Skyline where they investigate how to build a stable structure; and Tinkering Lab, where they take on daily engineering challenges. The museum’s commitment to expanding playful learning opportunities for all children also extends beyond its walls, with the creation of dynamic STEAM-based Curiosity Classrooms in a number of Chicago Public Schools, and Playful Learning Landscapes play environments in a variety of community-based settings.
