ASTC and Sanofi are proud to announce a national cohort of 14 science centers and museums from across the United States participating in The Air We Share, a multi-year initiative designed to help communities better understand how environmental challenges like air pollution, wildfires, and extreme heat affect respiratory health, and the actions individuals and communities can take to mitigate these impacts.
The initiative is anchored by three leading science institutions: The Museum of Science (Boston, MA), The Franklin Institute (Philadelphia, PA), and Liberty Science Center (Jersey City, NJ), each selected for their deep ties to their local communities in regions where Sanofi has a longstanding presence in the United States. These anchor institutions will help inform program development, knowledge sharing, and national learning across the cohort.
In addition to these anchor institutions, 11 science centers and museums have been selected to participate in The Air We Share. These organizations will receive funding, adaptable assets for public engagement programs and communications, and access to a collaborative network of peers and scientific experts. Through monthly training and shared learning opportunities, participating institutions will build capacity to deliver meaningful, community-centered engagement at the intersection of environmental and human health.
The additional participating institutions include:
- Children’s Creativity Museum – San Francisco, CA
- Clark Planetarium – Salt Lake City, UT
- Da Vinci Science Center – Allentown, PA
- EcoTarium – Worcester, MA
- Great Lakes Science Center – Cleveland, OH
- Griffin Museum of Science and Industry – Chicago, IL
- Madison Children’s Museum – Madison, WI
- Museum of Discovery and Science – Fort Lauderdale, FL
- South Dakota Discovery Center – Pierre, SD
- The Living Arts & Science Center – Lexington, KY
- World Forestry Center – Portland, OR
Together, ASTC, Sanofi, and the participating institutions are poised to make a meaningful national impact. The Air We Share will reach millions of people nationwide with accessible, engaging education on how environmental conditions impact respiratory health. The initiative will also deliver high-touch experiences that build knowledge, confidence, and motivation to improve community health outcomes. At the same time, the cohort will advance collective understanding of effective public engagement strategies to address urgent environmental and health challenges.
The Air We Share is the newest initiative under STEMulate Growth, Sanofi’s bold commitment to advancing inclusive STEM learning and expanding access to opportunity for students and communities that have historically been under-supported across the United States.
By partnering with science centers and museums embedded in their local communities, The Air We Share aims to translate science into action, helping people better understand the air we all share and the collective steps we can take to protect human and planetary health.
