NEH supports projects at two ASTC members

National Endowment for the Humanities The U.S. National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) has announced $37.5 million in funding for 240 projects across the country—including two at ASTC-member organizations.

Overall, NEH made awards in several areas including digital humanities, research centers on artificial intelligence, institutes for higher education faculty and K-12 educators, preservation assistance, sustaining cultural heritage collections, and more.

As a reminder, science-based cultural organizations are eligible to receive NEH grants in areas relevant to NEH’s mission. The agency encourages first-time applicants to connect with a program officer to discuss which grant programs might fit your institution or project.

$350,000 for “Ensuring the Sustainable Preservation of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History’s Humanities Collection” (Project Director: Meghan Strong)

The replacement of a 35-year-old HVAC system and associated ductwork and controls to improve the museum’s sustainable environment for its cultural anthropology, fine arts, and rare books collections.

$10,000 for “Phase III Visible Light Level Reduction Strategy for the Dennos Museum Center” (Project Director: Craig Hadley)
[Preservation Assistance Grants]

The installation of 1,450 square feet of window tint film that would reduce light levels in the museum’s promenade wing and gallery spaces.

 

Established in 1965 as an independent federal agency, NEH supports research and learning in history, literature, philosophy, and other areas of the humanities by funding selected, peer-reviewed proposals from around the nation.
